Happy Friday, friends 🧡 This week AI stopped waiting for you to come to it. It moved into the tools you already open every day: your Google Docs, your ChatGPT, your Facebook ads. That is handy, and it also means a few settings matter more than they did last week. Let's get into it. Here's what matters.
Claude now works right inside Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
What happened
On October 6, Anthropic opened a public beta of Claude for Google Workspace, a sidebar that sits next to whatever doc, spreadsheet or deck you have open. It works on all paid Claude plans and installs from the Google Workspace Marketplace.
What it means for you
No more copy, paste into Claude, copy back. Claude can tighten a proposal in Docs, write and fix formulas or build a chart in Sheets, and build slides that match your deck's existing theme. By default it runs in "Ask before edits" mode, so every change shows up as a card you approve first. If your business lives in Google, this is the biggest time saver of the week. Microsoft-only shops can skip it for now.
Do this
Install it, open your messiest spreadsheet, and ask Claude to clean it up. Leave "Ask before edits" switched on.
ChatGPT got a new brain and answers you can click
What happened
On October 7, OpenAI brought GPT-6 to ChatGPT along with something it calls Intelligent UI. Paid plans got GPT-6 Sol, and Free and Go users started getting GPT-6 Luna the next day. Answers can now include charts, buttons, forms and small calculators right inside the chat.
What it means for you
Ask a pricing or budget question and you may get a little tool you can play with instead of a wall of text. Same rule as always, though: a pretty chart is still a first draft. Check the numbers before they land in a client proposal.
Do this
Ask ChatGPT to "build me a simple calculator for my pricing" and see what comes back.
Meta's Muse agent now plugs into Shopify, QuickBooks and Stripe
What happened
On September 29, Meta launched Muse for Small Business, connecting its AI agent to tools like Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks, Canva, Slack and Zoom, plus your Instagram and Facebook Page analytics and your Meta ad accounts. Meta says Muse will not post, send messages or spend money without your approval, and it is free for most uses.
What it means for you
If you sell products, this is the first time one assistant can see your shop, your books and your Instagram numbers side by side. Think "what sold this month, and which posts drove it?" Service businesses without a shop can wait and watch.
Do this
If you try it, connect one tool first (your Instagram analytics is the gentlest start), not everything at once.
Facebook can now turn your product photos into video ads
What happened
At Advertising Week on October 6, Meta made Advantage+ Creative video generation generally available. It turns still images or product catalog listings into video ads, with controls for the hook, audio, length, captions and end scene.
What it means for you
Meta says video is 60% of the time people spend on Facebook and Instagram (per the same report). If you have been running photo-only ads because video felt like too much, that excuse just left the building. Watch every video before it runs, though. AI video can look generic fast, and your audience can tell.
Do this
Try it on your best-selling product photo first, and compare it to what you run now.
ChatGPT is turning into a shopping mall
What happened
OpenAI says it will start testing visual ads while people generate images in ChatGPT, in the US, later this month. The ads will be labeled and kept separate from the image. A few days earlier, ChatGPT added a "Try On" button that puts clothes from shopping results onto your own photo.
What it means for you
People are starting to shop inside ChatGPT, not just ask it questions. If you sell products, that is a new storefront worth watching. If you use the free plan, expect more ads over time.
Do this
Ask ChatGPT what it recommends in your category in your town, and see whether your business shows up.
AI is making invoice scams harder to spot before the holidays
What happened
On October 6, Australian bank ANZ warned that AI is making scams harder to detect. It named invoice scams, impersonation and business email compromise (the fake "our bank details have changed" email) as the big threats heading into Black Friday.
What it means for you
The fake invoice no longer has typos, and the voice on the phone may sound exactly like your vendor. The playbook is the same everywhere.
Do this
Make a house rule today: any change to payment details gets confirmed by phone, on a number you already have, never the one in the email.
Jam's take
Look at the pattern this week. Claude in Google Docs ships with "Ask before edits" switched on. Muse will not post or spend without your yes. Everyone is selling agents that "know when to act," and the truth is they don't. You decide. The real skill here has nothing to do with code. It is writing your "ask me first" rules. My rule of thumb is simple: let AI do anything you can undo (draft the email, fix the formula, suggest the post), and make it ask first for anything you can't (sending, spending, posting, touching a payment). Write those rules down once and you are managing AI like a business owner instead of crossing your fingers.
One thing to try before Monday
Open a note and write your "ask me first" list: five things AI is never allowed to do without your yes. Start with these: email a client, post publicly, spend money, change a price, delete anything. Paste the list into the custom instructions of the AI you use most. Ten minutes, and every tool you add later inherits your rules.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get Claude inside Google Docs?
Install Claude for Google Workspace from the Google Workspace Marketplace, open a file, and go to Extensions, then Claude, then Open Claude. As of October 6, 2026 it is in public beta on all paid Claude plans.
Will Claude change my Google Doc without asking?
Not by default. In "Ask before edits" mode, each change appears as an approval card and Claude waits for your yes. It only edits without stopping if you switch to "Accept all edits."
Is GPT-6 available on the free ChatGPT plan?
Yes. Free and Go users began getting GPT-6 Luna on October 8, 2026, while Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users got GPT-6 Sol on October 7.
What is Meta Muse for Small Business?
It is Meta's AI agent for small businesses, launched September 29, 2026. It connects to tools such as Shopify, Stripe, QuickBooks and Canva, plus Instagram and Facebook analytics and Meta ad accounts, and it needs your approval before it posts, sends messages or spends money.
How do I protect my business from AI invoice scams?
Confirm any change to payment details by phone on a number you already have, turn on two-factor authentication, and slow down on any urgent payment request, especially around Black Friday and the holidays.
